With less than a month until the regular season starts, the New England Patriots weren’t given much of a chance to make the playoffs, at least in the eyes of most fans and analysts.
Sure, they drafted Drake Maye in the first round, but the roster has a lot of holes in it.
However, they did have a strong piece on the defensive side of the ball, as Matthew Judon is one of the best at his position in the league.
Unfortunately for the Patriots, Judon didn’t want to stick around and watch the rebuilding process take shape.
Judon requested a trade, which the Patriots eventually granted, sending him to the Atlanta Falcons.
It seemed like this was a pretty seamless deal, but Albert Breer recently reported another team in the mix until he made his decision.
Breer indicated that the Chicago Bears offered the Patriots a similar trade package as the Falcons, but he ultimately chose Atlanta.
One addendum to the Patriots/Falcons trade of last week: New England, believing the Bears and Falcons were in a similar category, and with third-round offers from both, gave OLB Matthew Judon his choice of being dealt to Atlanta or Chicago.
Judon, obviously, picked Atlanta.

Even though Judon was frustrated with the Patriots, they let him decide what team he wanted to be traded to at the end of his time with the organization.
The Bears are led by rookie Caleb Williams, a quarterback who has received a lot of hype throughout the offseason.
Even though they are on the upswing, Judon picked the Falcons, a roster with more established players, and perhaps, a team that he believes has a much better chance of winning the Super Bowl in the next few years than the Bears.
