A few weeks ago, Dennis Schroder raised some eyebrows when he spoke about European basketball and said that it features “no entertainment.”

“It’s straight IQ basketball. Straight coaching,” Schroder said of Europe’s style of basketball.

Kevin Durant didn’t like those words and following Team USA’s win at the Olympics, he pushed back.

Now Schroder is firing back at Durant.

“That is just being weak. You are that type of star and have to say something to a person like me,” Schroder said on a stream, per A on X, adding that he didn’t mean to say anything negative or disrespectful with his statement.

It all started a few weeks ago as the Olympics were ramping up.

Schroder was asked about what Team USA should expect when playing against European athletes and said something that sounded like a strong criticism of American stars.

Days later, Durant and Team USA took the gold after beating Team France in the Olympics.

Durant was quick to hop online, post a picture of his victorious squad, and add the caption, “ENTERTAINMENT & IQ.”

Schroder is taking issue with Durant calling him out, although not directly.

He said he found Durant’s post to be “disrespectful,” especially because he meant no harm with what he said.

However, it’s understandable that the American stars would be upset by Schroder’s statement because he was essentially saying that the US players have it easier and don’t need as much intelligence.

Schroder might have made a point about European basketball being different.

But Durant and Team USA’s gold medal makes a statement of its own.
