The Pittsburgh Steelers have never had a losing season under head coach Mike Tomlin.
However, that doesn’t mean they’ve always been a contending team.
They haven’t won a playoff game in seven years.
And while this is just the preseason, the early returns make it seem as if that’s not going to be the case this season, either.
At least, that’s how Colin Cowherd and John Middlekauff seem to feel about them (Via The Volume).
“I do think the culture in Pittsburgh, to me, feels outdated,” Cowherd said.

Cowherd claims that the Steelers’ culture feels outdated, as they just have too many good players to be ‘pathetic’ offensively.
He questioned how Russell Wilson could only get one first down in five series, adding that Justin Fields can’t get snaps right, either.
He thinks they just cannot develop an offensive line, and that’s obviously a major issue.
For Middlekauff, it seemed like last season was the proper time for a divorce, citing how the Philadelphia Eagles and Andy Reid both benefitted from parting ways.
He added that this year has ‘debacle’ written all over them, and this might be the end of their .500-season streak.
Mike Tomlin is obviously a very good coach; he’s one of the best in the league.
Even so, teams need to shake things up every now and then when they’re not working out.
Winning 9 games a year isn’t good enough for a franchise like the Pittsburgh Steelers, and as much as they love and respect their coach — and rightfully so — they cannot justify keeping him after another mediocre season in 2024.
