The Washington Commanders are one of many struggling NFL franchises that were determined to right the ship, or at least get their team back on track, during the offseason by bringing in an influx of young talent.
After longtime owner Daniel Snyder’s chaotic reign officially ended before the start of the 2023 NFL season, the Commanders had already taken a drastic step forward in their attempt to build a winner and reclaim the franchise’s former glory.
Although the 2023 campaign was forgettable, to say the least, the result was that the Commanders were able to bring in one of the most talented players in the 2024 NFL Draft, who everyone knew was going to be a quarterback.
Even though they were unable to get Caleb Williams, who was drafted by the Chicago Bears at No. 1 overall, Washington was able to bring in reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels at No. 2 overall, which is a significant upgrade under center.
With the Commanders determined to build around Daniels, every other move is crucial, and they made two recently by signing defensive end Justin Hollins and releasing linebacker Bo Bauer, via the team on X.
We have made the following roster moves:
— Signed DE Justin Hollins
— Released LB Bo Bauer
— Washington Commanders (@Commanders) August 19, 2024
These moves aren’t substantial in any way, as the biggest additions have already been made, and everything done from here on out will be to finalize the roster ahead of Week 1.
The Commanders will go on the road to start the season as they are set to take on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 8.
