Prior to the 2023 NFL season, the New York Jets were, without a doubt, the most hyped and talked about team in the league, as they had brought in what was considered to be the missing piece to the championship puzzle in four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

With the Jets having some talented young players on offense, like wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, Rodgers was an ideal addition, especially considering the defense in New York with Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams leading the way.

Unfortunately for New York, all the hopes of being a legitimate title contender in the AFC came crashing down when Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the first drive against the division-rival Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

The Jets went on to win only seven games, miss the playoffs, and have a lot of people doubting whether they could bounce back in 2024, even with a healthy Rodgers under center.

Rodgers’ stock has plummeted so much since suffering that devastating injury that Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports said he thinks the veteran might not be among the best QBs in the conference heading into the 2024 NFL season.

“I don’t think he’s a top-six quarterback in the AFC,” Cowherd said, via The Volume.

Although that seems like a bold comment when referencing a Super Bowl champion and a player who has won multiple MVP awards, Cowherd might be right, as Rodgers isn’t getting any younger, and it is never easy to bounce back from the injury he had at 40 years old.

However, professional athletes at the superstar level are playing longer and longer these days, with Tom Brady and LeBron James proof of that, so anything can happen with Rodgers moving forward.
