Over the past few years, layoffs at significant sports networks have become commonplace, as some of the biggest names have been getting fired with the changing landscape of the business and companies like ESPN needing to cut the fat in certain areas.
Although it has become a brutal business, sports talk and analysis still get big ratings, from talking-head shows to podcasts and a variety of different platforms that seem to do well daily.
Unfortunately, not everyone can stay gainfully employed in this business as former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III found out recently, when ESPN abruptly parted ways with him, leading to speculation as to where he might land or if he’d get another gig in the business.
Griffin recently took to social media to thank fans for supporting him during this challenging time, especially with the 2024 NFL season right around the corner, but it seems as though the former college superstar might have something lined up.

With ESPN and FOX Sports constantly battling to be the top sports network with the most entertaining content, talent like Griffin doesn’t stay unemployed for long.
Although his once-promising NFL future was cut short by injuries, it seems as though he’s carved out a post-playing career that he might be able to sustain for many years if his next gig proves to be a good one, which it may very well be.
Only time will tell where Griffin will land, but it sounds like the announcement isn’t too far off, as another network may have already swooped him off the free agent pile.
