The Atlanta Falcons’ defense just got significantly better.
It took him a while, but free agent safety Justin Simmons finally found a new home.
Now, according to NFL Jersey Numbers on Twitter, it’s been reported that the former Denver Broncos star will wear No. 31 with his new team.

Just a day after trading a third-round pick to the New England Patriots to get OLB Matthew Judon, they also managed to bring the two-time Pro Bowler along.
Simmons signed a one-year deal worth $8 million, and the Falcons will now have one of the best safety tandems with him and Jessie Bates III.
That’s a big move for a Falcons team that just lost DeMarcco Hellams for some time with an ankle injury.
Thus far, Simmons had only played for the Broncos, but they released him after eight seasons as a salary-cap casualty from offloading Russell Wilson.
He’s logged nine interceptions over the past couple of seasons and is deemed one of the best safeties in the league, even making it to the second-team All-Pro four times.
He has led the entire league in interceptions since he entered the league back in 2016 (30).
The Falcons brought in Raheem Morris to lead their team into the future, and their defense should be one of the best in the NFC as a result.
With Kirk Cousin’s arrival and a new offensive coordinator, this team is expected to be one of the most improved in the league as a whole, and adding Simmons only made them scarier.
