For the first time in 14 years, Pete Carroll won’t be on the sidelines calling the shots for the Seattle Seahawks.
The legendary coach will now serve as an advisor, with former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald handling head coaching duties.
Whether he’ll ever return to coaching or not remains to be seen.
For now, however, he’ll return to the place where he became a prominent name in football.
According to a report by ESPN (via Adam Schefter), Carroll will return to USC to teach a class this spring.

He didn’t dig deep into which class he’d be teaching, but claimed to be very excited about the opportunity.
Despite his advisory role with the Seahawks, Coach Carroll claimed that he’s been keeping his distance from the organization, adding that he would also be doing some advisory for other teams.
Carroll also admitted that he hasn’t been in touch with Coach Macdonald or his coaching staff.
He coached USC from 2001 to 2009 before his 14-year stint with the Seahawks, and he’s one of just three coaches who have won both a National Championship and a Super Bowl.
And while not many people stay active at 72 years old, let alone in the professional football scene, Carroll has always stayed relevant and in great shape, both mentally and physically.
So, even if he doesn’t know what the future holds for him and whether he’ll ever be a head coach again, that won’t stop multiple teams from potentially reaching out to him at some point.
