For more than 20 years, Tom Brady set the standard for excellence in the NFL; he was the standard.

Brady never hesitated to take pay cuts to put his team in a position to win.

He never allowed himself to be outworked by anybody else in the game, and he made sure that his teammates took the same approach to their preparation.

As such, he never sugar-coated anything.

That’s why he knows he must take a different approach to the game now that he’s going to be an analyst.

Talking on the Stephen A. Smith Show, the seven-time Super Bowl champion admitted that the biggest challenge of his new endeavor is that he won’t be able to be as overly-critical and harsh about NFL play as he used to be back in the day, such as calling a play ‘horrible’ and whatnot.

“My biggest challenge is that I’m very critical of the play in the NFL. The most challenging thing is when I see something and think ‘That was horrible.’  I just can’t say that on TV,” Brady said.

Of course, times have changed, and the fans will most definitely appreciate his bluntness and straightforwardness.

Even so, out of pure respect for his colleagues, he can’t just rip into them and their play and be as brutally honest as some fans would like him to be.

Brady will have to be more politically correct, just like he was when he addressed the media.

Whatever the case, it’ll be nice to get his insight and opinion about everything that goes down on the field.

And even if he’s been overly-critical of the current state of the league, it’s hard to argue with any of the things he’s said thus far.
