The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are yet to name their starting quarterback, are anxiously keeping a close eye on the battle under center between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.

While Fields has played in every preseason game, Wilson has played in just one of the team’s preseason games because of injury.

Now, according to Wilson himself (via insider Brooke Pryor), he will be taking the field against the Detroit Lions in the team’s preseason finale.

“We’re playing,” Wilson recently said in front of the Pittsburgh media. “Yeah, we’re all playing. I’m excited to get back on the field.”

For Fields and Wilson to both be able to get more snaps under their belts will be huge ahead of Week 1.

Fields is by far the least successful of the two seeing as he is just 10-28 as a starter in his career.

Wilson is a nine-time Pro-Bowler and a former Super Bowl champion.

The difference for Fields right now is that he is in a better situation than he was when he was with the Chicago Bears for three years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a winning culture, and Mike Tomlin is the right coach to help a talented player like Fields get back on track.

However, if the Steelers are hoping to win right now, perhaps Wilson might be the better choice.

After all, the 35-year-old has a career passer rating of over 100.

Perhaps this final preseason matchup will be the deciding factor when it comes to who will be the starter going into Week 1.
