The Denver Broncos’ quarterback of the future is now their quarterback of the present.

Rookie Bo Nix was recently named the starter by head coach Sean Payton.

In his latest press conference, Payton talked about what stood out on tape when it comes to Nix’s game.

According to Broncos insider Zac Stevens, Payton noted Nix’s ability to get the ball out accurately in a dirty pocket, how tough it is to sack him, and his ability to process quickly.

Sean Payton said the couple of things that stood out on tape about Bo Nix were:

— His ability to get the ball out accurate in a dirty pocket

— He became a tough sack

— Ability to process quickly

These are all qualities that a franchise quarterback should possess, especially one being coached by Payton.

Remember, Payton coached four-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo as an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys before taking over the New Orleans Saints and teaming up with quarterback Drew Brees.

Payton knows what it takes to teach a quarterback in the NFL.

The No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Nix started an NCAA record 61 games during his time at both Oregon and Auburn.

The former Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year has proven himself to be quite the player, which is the reason he was named the starter before the end of the preseason.

His 116.7 passer rating in the preseason has put the doubters on notice.

He was able to beat out veterans Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson for the starting job and is now looking to make the Broncos AFC playoff contenders in the near future.
