After a long search and interviews with multiple candidates, Kenny Atkinson was recently named the new head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
And now, just a couple of months before the new season starts, Atkinson is ready to get to work.
Speaking to Bally Sports Cleveland, Atkinson said, “We’re gonna have some real fun with this team.”
He commented on the loyalty of the fanbase, who have been with the Cavs through thick and thin.
He promised to make those people proud and push the team to the next level.

This isn’t Atkinson’s first NBA coaching job.
He previously led the Brooklyn Nets for four seasons and earned a 118-190 record during that time.
He has also been an assistant coach for the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Golden State Warriors.
Leaving the Warriors’ staff was a big move for Atkinson and it shows how much faith he has in the team, and himself.
The Cavaliers ended last season as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 48-34 record.
They suffered a ton of problems during 2023-24, including multiple major injuries that sidelined their biggest stars.
The fact that they ended up as the fourth seed was actually very impressive considering all they had to go through.
But now fans are expecting a lot more in the new season.
The team is bringing back its biggest names, including Donovan Mitchell, and they have a new coach.
Therefore, some people believe they should achieve so much more.
Atkinson sounds motivated and confident in what this team can do but now it’s time to prove it.
