Fans didn’t know what to think when the New England Patriots drafted Drake Maye.
Maye was something of a polarizing prospect heading into the draft, and many questioned what his ceiling could be in the NFL.
He did play well at North Carolina, but dominant college play doesn’t always translate to the NFL.
Some of these concerns may have been valid, considering Maye has had his ups and downs throughout training camp and the preseason.
However, just because he has had some rough patches doesn’t mean he’s a bust.
Colin Cowherd recently talked about Maye on The Herd, which Savage Sports shared on Twitter.
“He looks physically like Justin Herbert, he literally looks like Justin Herbert,” Cowherd said.

As Cowherd said, when looking at Maye on a football field, he does resemble Herbert.
He might not have the arm talent of Herbert, but Maye is a big body on the field, a trait met with extreme upside.
Tom Brady was a tall, imposing body on the field, and if Maye can get the rest of his game under control, he could have a similar impact in his stature.
Of course, there is a lot of development to happen over the next several weeks and months.
Many analysts believe that Jacoby Brissett is slated to be the starting QB in New England this year, barring any shocking developments.
It will be interesting to see what the Patriots can accomplish in the next five years with Maye’s development in mind.
