Some intriguing quarterback news has come out of the desert involving the Cardinals.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, as the battle for No. 2 quarterback behind starting quarterback Kyler Murray nears it’s end, Clayton Tune will start over Desmond Ridder in the team’s final preseason game.
“It’s possible, though, that the Cards keep all 3 QBs on the 53-man roster,” Rapoport recently wrote on social media.

This is a fascinating decision by head coach Jonathan Gannon considering that Ridder is the more experienced NFL quarterback.
However, Tune, a former fifth-round pick of Arizona in April of 2023, already has a year under his belt with the Cards.
Ridder was traded to the desert earlier this offseason from Atlanta.
Tune played in seven games last season and started once going 12 of 21 passing for 62 yards with multiple interceptions.
He also ran in a touchdown while rushing eight times for 30 yards on the ground.
In Ridder’s young career, he has a record of 8-9 with 19 total touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He was not able to turn the Falcons back into a winner after Matt Ryan’s career in Atlanta came to an end, which is why he was traded to the Cardinals in exchange for other pieces to build around Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Time will tell on which quarterback Gannon decides is best suited to back up the franchise signal-caller in Murray.
With Tune starting in the final preseason week, perhaps that might give Cardinals fans a clue into the plans of Gannon and Co. moving forward.
