The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently choosing between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields for the starting quarterback role.
With the final preseason game looming, Steelers insiders, such as Gerry Dulac, are starting to get an idea of who head coach Mike Tomlin will roll with.
“I don’t think Justin Fields has done anything to change their mind. There’s really no debate here on who will start for them, unless Russell Wilson gets hurt,” Dulac recently said on the Dan Patrick Show.

As Dulac noted, Fields only won 10 games as the starter in Chicago for three years.
The team brought in Russell Wilson, a nine-time Pro-Bowler and former Super Bowl champion, to lead them forward.
This Steelers team won 10 games last year and made the playoffs despite having suspect quarterback play.
Imagine what this team could be with the Seattle Seahawks version of Russell Wilson.
On paper, they have one of the best defenses in football thanks to the likes of All-Pro edge-rusher T.J. Watt, All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward, Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Queen, and All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
With 1,000-yard receiver George Pickens and a pair of 1,000-yard scrimmage backs in Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, all this team might be missing is a competent quarterback.
With Wilson’s career portfolio, it might be hard for Fields to overcome that in one training camp.
Time will tell on whether or not Tomlin decides to choose the accomplished veteran in Wilson or the unproven, former first-round pick in Fields.
This final preseason game this weekend for Pittsburgh could be the ultimate deciding factor.
