It may be easy to forget that several years ago, Chip Kelly was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles for three seasons.

His tenure saw some moderate success, but he was ultimately fired near the end of the 2015 season, reportedly because of a dispute over how much power he wanted over personnel decisions.

LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson, two stars on Kelly’s Eagles teams, asked a few of their former Eagles teammates what they thought about Kelly’s tenure there, and none of them held back.

Jason Peters: “bulls**t a** guy man.”

Brandon Graham: “He was very selfish, didn’t want to give up to much power and lead.”

Andy Reid, who is now the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach, was at the helm of the Eagles from 1999 to 2012, and Kelly was hired to be Reid’s replacement in 2013 after a successful stint with the University of Oregon.

The Eagles won 10 games apiece in Kelly’s first two seasons as head coach, and in his first season, they finished first in the NFC East.

But things started to go sour afterward, and he was fired before the final game of the 2015 regular season.

Afterward, Kelly was hired by the San Francisco 49ers, and after they went 2-14 that year, they fired him in early 2017 as part of sweeping changes across the organization.

Meanwhile, Philly hired Doug Pederson to be their head coach for the 2016 season, and the following year, he navigated quarterback Carson Wentz’s season-ending injury to guide them to the Super Bowl championship over Tom Brady’s New England Patriots.

Since leaving Philly, Kelly spent the last six seasons as the head coach at the University of California, Los Angeles, and he will now be the offensive coordinator for Ohio State University.
