After being a major part of the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty for the past 10 years, Klay Thompson decided to start anew when he agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks this offseason.

While the Warriors’ dynasty is practically dead now, the Mavericks are coming off of an NBA Finals appearance, and many expect Thompson to make them better this coming season.

With over a month to go before the start of training camp, Thompson was seen enjoying himself in the water along with new teammate Quentin Grimes, per ClutchPoints.

During his time with the Warriors, Thompson established himself as not only a bona fide NBA star but also as one of the greatest outside shooters the league has ever seen.

He and backcourt mate Stephen Curry were flamethrowers from downtown, and their consistent hot shooting powered the franchise to four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Unfortunately, its dynasty got interrupted when Thompson tore his ACL during the 2019 NBA Finals, then tore his Achilles just prior to the start of the 2020-21 season.

As a result, he hasn’t quite been the same player over the last few years that he was prior, especially on defense, where he used to be an underrated stud.

Thompson will now be tasked with supplying some supplemental offense for a Mavs squad that struggled mightily in their five-game loss to the Boston Celtics in June’s NBA Finals.

Despite averaging 117.9 points a game in the regular season, they put up a very weak 99.2 points a game in the championship series, and Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, their two stars, lacked any outlets when Boston swarmed them.
