The Philadelphia Eagles made a surprising acquisition from a division rival on Thursday when they acquired wide receiver Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders for draft pick compensation.
There were whispers that Dotson was slipping down the depth chart in Washington following a subpar camp, but he will now have a fresh start in somewhat familiar territory.
The Eagles recently shared a video showing Dotson pulling up to the practice facility for the first time ready to get to work, and he looked happy before taking a brief moment to address Eagles fans, saying “Can’t wait to get to work!”

Dotson was the 16th overall pick in the 2022 draft and posted 84 catches for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns over 29 games with Washington in his two years there.
He was sent to the Eagles along with a fifth-round pick for a third-round pick and a pair of seventh-round picks in exchange.
After Dotson failed to solidify himself as the No. 2 wideout alongside Terry McLaurin and proved to be a better option in the slot, Washington decided to move on from the former first-round pick just two years after selecting him.
He should slot right into Philadelphia’s offense like a glove as A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith are locked in as the top two receivers on the outside, so Dotson should have plenty of room to thrive as the No. 3.
His 7.4 drop percentage was the 10th highest in the NFL last season and is a major area for improvement, but Philly obviously saw something it liked and now adds another young weapon to an explosive offense.
