Thinking about the best quarterbacks is always an intriguing exercise, especially when it comes to the best quarterbacks in a loaded conference such as the AFC.
On Good Morning Football recently, former NFL player and current analyst Akbar Gbajabiamila gave his own list of the top five quarterbacks in the AFC.
“I had to start with and give my respect to Aaron Rodgers…Of course Mahomes is on there…Lamar Jackson…I had to go Justin Herbert…I put C.J. Stroud in my top five in the AFC,” Gbajabiamila stated.

It is hard to argue with the list simply because the AFC is filled with great quarterbacks.
Starting with Rodgers, it is hard to argue with a four-time MVP and former champion who has the highest quarterback rating and best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history.
Putting Mahomes on his list was also a slam-dunk move considering he has won three of the last five Super Bowls and if it wasn’t for Rodgers, Mahomes might be undoubtedly the most talented quarterback in history.
Lamar Jackson, who has the Baltimore Ravens in firm Super Bowl contention in the AFC, has won two of the last four MVPs and has completely destroyed the quarterback rushing record books.
Putting Chargers star quarterback Justin Herbert on the list was an intriguing decision too.
The Pro-Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year has thrown for over 4,000 yards and 25+ touchdowns in three of his first four seasons in the league.
After an incredible rookie season that saw him set NFL and Houston Texans franchise rookie records, C.J. Stroud was able to earn the last spot on Gbajabiamila’s list.
However, fellow Pro Bowl quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Josh Allen were left off the list, which is very curious.
