After flaming out of the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, when the Denver Nuggets couldn’t keep up with a motivated and defensive-minded Minnesota Timberwolves team led by Anthony Edwards, three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic chose to represent Serbia in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Although Jokic has notably liked to disconnect from basketball during the NBA offseason and focus on his harness racing hobby overseas, this year was different as he played for Serbia and helped it come incredibly close to upsetting Team USA.
Despite losing twice to the Americans before facing them in the semifinals, Jokic and company seemed like a different team entirely in the knockout round and gave Steve Kerr’s squad all it could handle, convincing many that a historic upset was about to take place and set up a matchup with France and Victor Wembanyama in the gold-medal game.
Unfortunately for Serbia, Jokic and his resilient squad came up short against the United States, and he ultimately settled for a bronze medal earned with a win against Germany.
Even though the Serbians came up short of the gold medal, Jokic reportedly rewarded his teammates with expensive Rolex watches, according to Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports.
Nikola Jokic reportedly bought each member of the Serbian Olympic basketball team a Rolex watch valued at $32,500 — roughly $400,000 for 11 watches, per Blic Sport. pic.twitter.com/edMfqCJuU4

Jokic seems to be a man of the people and someone who takes care of his teammates, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise, as he has become known for his personality on and off the basketball floor.
Now, Jokic will focus on returning to work with the Nuggets ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, looking to get his title-contending team back on track as one of the best squads in the league.
