The San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver drama continues.
There’s still no word about Brandon Aiyuk’s future and whether he’ll be with the team come Week 1.
Moreover, his potential heir might not be on the field, either.
According to HC Kyle Shanahan (via Eric Branch of The San Francisco Chronicle), rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall, who’s been on the sidelines for more than two weeks, might be forced to miss the season opener.

Pearsall is dealing with a partial dislocation of his shoulder, which is an ailment he dealt with three times during his days in college.
The first-round wide receiver sustained the injury in practice earlier in August.
He had already gone through the same issue during OTAs, although he continued to practice.
The Niners shrugged off all those concerns about his shoulder injuries, and the fact that he didn’t miss a game in his five seasons in college was also encouraging.
As of now, he’s only participated in six of 19 training camp practices, also missing time due to a hamstring injury.
Needless to say, this isn’t an encouraging start to his career, and injuries will continue to be a concern with him for the time being.
Even so, Shanahan didn’t rule him out for the season opener, but given the way things have unfolded for him thus far, it would be shocking to see him out there.
Even if he’s available, he might be on a snap count, and it might take a while before he’s able to showcase his skills for his team.
