Lakers Veteran Sends Warning Ahead Of The Season

The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of issues to address to be better next season.

Unfortunately, Rob Pelinka failed to make any sort of big-time move in the offseason, with Dalton Knecht and Bronny James as his reinforcements for the campaign.

The Lakers’ need for an improvement at the center position has been evident for quite a while now.

And while some fans argue that they should just play Christian Wood more minutes, he didn’t do much to earn his playing time when he was on the court.

With that in mind, the veteran big man has officially now vowed vengeance next season.

Wood shared an IG story, putting the league on notice and warning his doubters about him (via NBA Central).

He’s coming off averaging 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the floor and 30% from beyond the arc.

He made 50 appearances for the Purple & Gold, including one start.

Of course, J.J. Redick would love Wood to become a steady contributor off the bench, and he has the potential to at least post Sixth Man of the Year-caliber numbers, even if his impact on defense leaves plenty to be desired.

At the end of the day, the Lakers’ chances to make the playoffs — or not — will continue to hang on Anthony Davis and LeBron James’ shoulders.

Unfortunately for them, banking all the season’s hopes on an aging star might not be a recipe for success in today’s basketball landscape.
