It’s becoming increasingly more common given the rise of social media and how much access we have to billionaires and celebrities that public figures feel the need to meddle in politics, even if all they do is provide a public endorsement of their candidate of preference.
Former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban recently shared his support of Vice President Kamala Harris and her 2024 Presidential campaign, which one NFL player is apparently not a fan of.
San Francisco 49ers guard Jon Feliciano responded to Mark Cuban’s tweet saying “Kamala Harris is not falling in line with Democratic Party Policies. Kamala Harris is defining her own policies, and the Democratic Party is falling in line with her. She literally is redefining the party.” with a simple cap emoji, implying he is lying.

Feliciano clearly drew a line in the sand here and let the fans know where he aligns politically, and there’s little to no question who he will be voting for after his follow-up tweet.

Mixing politics and sports always gets messy, and there’s not much benefit to athletes getting too involved in things like this if it’s only to stoke the flame instead of having a constructive peaceful conversation about such a complicated topic.
Athletes and public figures have plenty of influence, but we live in a place now where most are expected to voice their political stances, mostly so fans can decide how they truly feel about them.
Needless to say, nobody should be basing their vote on what a backup 49ers offensive lineman thinks.
