Everybody has a smartphone these days, and one thing we all have in common is we’re all sick and tired of the spam calls that have become a staple in our day with seemingly no end in sight.

Spam calls are the disappointing version of old-fashioned prank calls, which used to be an art form before Caller ID ruined everything, but one NFL rookie recently got a blast from the past during draft night when his phone number got leaked.

Philadelphia Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean recently told John Clark of NBC Sports after his preseason debut that draft night was hectic for him because he received over 30 prank calls during the broadcast, and because of that he accidentally ignored the Eagles’ calls twice before he finally got on the phone with general manager Howie Roseman.

Cooper DeJean after his preseason debut told me that he actually got prank called 30 times during the NFL draft. He thought they were NFL teams calling.

DeJean wound up being taken 40th overall after the Eagles finally got him on the phone, and hopefully, he has since changed his phone number.

It’s a shame how common this is when athletes get their numbers leaked, as fans can be ruthless and likely marred what was otherwise supposed to be one of the best nights of his life.

Maybe other teams were prepared to take him earlier but couldn’t get ahold of him, after all, many did project him to go higher than the 40th pick.

DeJean is currently projected to be a backup nickelback for the Eagles this year and it will be interesting to see how he is used given his skill set.
