Over the last couple of years, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has become a legitimate superstar in the NBA while receiving comparisons to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and leading his team to the Western Conference Finals during the 2023-24 campaign.
With Edwards getting a lot of attention over the course of last season while making the Timberwolves relevant again in the West, the budding superstar has created a lot of buzz due to his play on the basketball floor as well as his controversial comments off of it, which have gotten progressively bold.
Apparently, Edwards believes that outside of Jordan, no one during the 1990s was a skilled basketball player, including Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson. Johnson wasn’t all that fond of that comment, and he likely isn’t alone.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently asked Johnson what he thought about Edwards’ controversial and ill-advised comments, and he couldn’t have had a better response, which put things into perspective via ClutchPoints.
“I never respond to a guy who’s never won a championship,” Johnson said. “He didn’t win a college championship, I don’t even know if he won a high school championship.”

Although others might explain why Edwards’ statement is ridiculous, Johnson shuts it down in the best way possible by simply saying the Timberwolves superstar has done nothing to show he’s even worthy of talking about the subject.
Edwards will likely regret what he said, as more legends from that era will almost certainly chime in on the subject, and maybe Jordan will have something to say about it as well.
