The 2024 season is going to be crucial for the Denver Broncos.

After their failed experiment with Russell Wilson, the Broncos have pivoted to rookie Bo Nix, who will be their Week 1 starter.

Sean Payton is entering his second year as the head coach of this team.

Given his career history and how highly he was touted coming into Denver, the team must perform well this year.

Nix will be the Week 1 starter, but he does have some competition waiting in the wings if things go south.

Payton recently spoke at a postgame press conference, giving a lot of love to Zach Wilson after their final preseason game.

“He has got a live arm down the field. I thought he threw it away when it was not there. There were a couple sacks, but overall, we moved the ball,” Payton said.

Zach Wilson has impressed Sean Payton recently, including today:

“He has got a live arm down the field. I thought he threw it away when it was not there. There were a couple sacks, but overall, we moved the ball. You are trying to measure how the offense is doing when he is in…

Wilson hasn’t necessarily had a great NFL career to this point, but the Broncos present a new opportunity for him.

He didn’t win the starting job but was still able to put up some decent stats in the Broncos’ preseason game.

Wilson finished this game with 251 yards and two touchdown passes, completing 16 of 25 balls.

This showed that Wilson still has some talent and that he might be capable of more than what the average fan thinks of him.

Payton has coached in the NFL for a long time, and when he recognizes a great performance, he is more than happy to call it out.

Will this performance be enough to make Wilson QB2 on the depth chart?
