On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys finally agreed to terms with superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, ending any tension between the two sides before the 2024 NFL season gets underway next month.
With Lamb getting his lucrative long-term deal done with the Cowboys to start the week, the attention has shifted back to the San Francisco 49ers, who have two stars who aren’t happy with their current contract situations, which has created quite a distraction in the Bay Area for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations.
Although star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s contract situation has dominated the headlines ever since the 49ers lost in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs back in February, star left tackle Trent Williams, who is easily one of the most important players on the team, hasn’t gotten a deal done either.
If the 49ers can’t get something done with Aiyuk and or Williams, the offense could suffer a couple of significant blows, hurting the team’s chances of being a title contender during this upcoming season, and it seems things aren’t trending in the right direction with their four-time All-Pro left tackle via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“I was told from somebody involved in the situation that he is not going to be available until he gets his contract adjusted,” Fowler said.
With preseason over, Trent Williams plans to continue his holdout unless his contract is reworked, placing Week 1 availability for #49ers into focus.

Even though the 49ers have to start preparing for Week 1 when they host Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets at Levi’s Stadium on September 9, the team has a lot of work to do internally to avoid a mess and get this season underway.
It’ll be interesting to see how motivated the 49ers brass is to complete these contracts and whether this team starts the 2024 campaign without any distractions.
