The Denver Broncos have had a rough few years after the team decided to make the bold move to trade for superstar quarterback Russell Wilson in a blockbuster move with the Seattle Seahawks that sent shockwaves throughout the NFL.

The Wilson experiment in the Mile High City was an absolute disaster, resulting in his release after the 2023 campaign.

The Broncos, led by head coach Sean Payton, decided to move forward with a promising young rookie, Bo Nix, from the University of Oregon.

Although it didn’t seem clear what the Broncos planned to do at quarterback after releasing Wilson, as many thought they’d simply turn to veteran journeyman Jarrett Stidham, the team seems to have put a lot of stock into Nix’s future in Denver, with high hopes that he is the real deal.

With Nix potentially being the future face of the franchise for the Broncos, Payton and company want to put the right talent around him to get the best out of the young leader right away, which doesn’t seem to involve veteran wide receiver Tim Patrick, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

This is certainly an unexpected development in Denver, as it seemed like Patrick made an impression on the team during the NFL preseason, but perhaps Payton and his coaching staff wanted to focus on other areas rather than holding onto a veteran receiver who struggles to stay healthy.

Only time will tell if the Broncos got it right with Nix and whether they can find a trade partner for Patrick, with Denver heading into a season filled with uncertainty and excitement about starting a new era.
