The New England Patriots haven’t named a starting quarterback yet, but rookie Drake Maye seems to be competing hard with Jacoby Brissett, and some reports have indicated that he has even outplayed Brissett.
Regardless, Maye took to social media with a simple message as the start of the regular season approaches.
He posted the words “back at it” on his Instagram account.

Maye was the No. 3 pick in April’s draft, and he put up prolific stats in his last two seasons with the University of North Carolina.
He could very well be the man who rescues the Patriots from their post-Tom Brady slumber, but for now, he is still battling to be their QB1.
Brissett, who is entering his ninth year in the NFL, played three games for the Washington Commanders last year and completed 18 of 23 pass attempts for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
The previous year, he did a solid job filling in for the suspended Deshaun Watson as a member of the Cleveland Browns.
New England likely isn’t going to make the playoffs this year, and thus it seems it would make sense for them to start Maye and begin to build for what they hope will be a better future.
Of course, if there are any real red flags, perhaps it would be better for him to wait a bit, perhaps until later this season.
While some have voiced their concerns about Maye, he did complete 13 of 20 passes in Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders.
