Bills Are Releasing Veteran QB

The Buffalo Bills are one of the few teams in the league with absolutely no doubt regarding the quarterback position.

However, even though Josh Allen is one of the best in the game and despite his usual health, every team needs at least a couple of backups at the most crucial position in the game.

Even so, it seems like the Bills are willing to roll the dice and will start the season a little thin at quarterback.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, they plan to release veteran QB Ben DiNucci.

They’re doing so on the verge of the league’s deadline to trim the roster to just 53 players, which will take place on Tuesday at 4:00 PM ET.

The former Dallas Cowboys backup signed with them earlier in August and even made a couple of appearances in the preseason.

Moreover, Sean McDermott’s team also decided to release Anthony Brown, leaving just Mitch Trubisky as Allen’s backup.

The only issue with that is that Trubisky has been sidelined with a knee injury for quite a while now, and his availability for Week One against the Arizona Cardinals is still up in the air.

The Bills could still look to bring either Brown or DiNucci back to the practice squad after the roster cuts, assuming either of them clears waivers.

That way, they would be available to enter a game as Allen’s backup if Trubisky hasn’t recovered from his knee injury yet, so not everything is lost for them.
