Russell Westbrook will start his first season with the Denver Nuggets in a couple of months and fans are hoping he looks like a vintage version of himself.
At least one part of his game will be different: his number.
Harrison Wind is repotting that Westbrook will wear No. 4 this season after Nuggets star Hunter Tyson chose to give him the jersey and wear No. 5 instead.
According to Wind, Westbrook attempted to get No. 0 but Christian Bruan “didn’t budge,” which led to him being 4 for the season ahead.
More uniform news: Hunter Tyson will wear #5 this season after giving #4 to Russell Westbrook. There was an inquiry by Westbrook into wearing #0, I’m told, but Christian Braun didn’t budge. Tyson gave Westbrook #4 free of charge. pic.twitter.com/7WK6L6C0GD

Westbrook has only worn two numbers throughout his 16-year career: No. 0 and No. 4.
Obviously, he was hoping to be zero again but Braun wasn’t hearing it, although he likely turned him down gently.
Even though he can’t be No. 0, Westbrook still gets to wear a number that he has had many times before, which is cause for celebration.
Numbers aside, what will Westbrook look like in the new season?
Last year, he averaged 11.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the Los Angeles Clippers.
His field goal percentage was still a strong 45.4% and he was looking comfortable with his position starting on the bench.
He started in just 11 of his 68 games in 2023-24.
Will the Nuggets ask more of him?
That is a strong possibility because they have been hoping for more help in the guard position and there is a good chance that he starts in many more games.
Playing with the Nuggets could give Westbrook his best chance at finally winning a championship ring, so will that give him more reasons to play well?
