The 2024-25 season will give many NBA teams a chance at redemption and to fight back into playoff contention.

But that won’t be the case for the Charlotte Hornets, at least according to Stephen A. Smith.

A video shared by diehard Charlotte fan The Super Hornet on X featured Smith saying that the Hornets have “no chance” in the upcoming season.

He believes the future is still bright for the team, especially with LaMelo Ball on board, but they aren’t going far any time soon.

The Hornets ended last season as the 13th team in the Eastern Conference with a lacking 21-61 record.

They weren’t even close to reaching the playoffs and didn’t stand a chance the entire season.

Still, many fans believe that big things are coming for Buzz City.

The team is under new management, has a new coach, and is acquiring more talent.

But it still might be some time before they are truly thriving, especially since their conference is getting better and better.

One of the biggest problems with the Hornets is that they are still deeply committed to Ball.

In most ways that makes sense because he is a wonderfully talented young player and averaged 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8 assists per game last season.

But he was also hurt again and only participated in 22 games for the entire season.

There is a worry that the Hornets will always be held back until Ball gets fully healthy, or until the team decides to part ways with him.

For a number of valid reasons, Smith doesn’t think 2024-25 will be Charlotte’s year but good things could still be on the horizon.
