After a 2023 season that was destroyed by injuries, Joe Burrow is looking to return to form and make his Cincinnati Bengals legitimate Super Bowl contenders again.

Many expect the star quarterback to do just that, although the Bengals do have a couple of pressing issues to sort out.

The organization looked to get its fans excited about the new season by posting a hype video on its X account.

“I’m addicted to getting better,” Burrow said in the video. “That makes the day to day really worth it.”

After narrowly losing the AFC Championship Game in the 2022 season, Burrow entered training camp a year ago and quickly suffered a strained calf that forced him to sit out for a while.

He returned before the ailment fully healed, which drew concern that he might sustain an additional injury such as a torn Achilles as a result, and his play suffered early in the season.

Burrow started to look more like his usual self in October, but alas, he suffered a wrist injury in Week 11 that ended his season.

Largely as a result of those injuries, Cincinnati missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record.

Right now, their concern isn’t Burrow’s health but the contract situations of wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, both of whom are looking for extensions.

Chase reportedly will be ready to go when the regular season starts even if he doesn’t receive an extension beforehand, which is welcome news for the organization and its fans.

However, it likely will be difficult to pay both receivers what they want, especially after the Bengals gave Burrow a five-year, $275 million contract extension of his own nearly a year ago.
