Since the beginning of major sports, Boston has had one of the strongest traditions in the U.S.
Whether it’s the Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, or even the Boston Bruins, their fans have always rivaled other towns to deem themselves as the ultimate sports city.
That may or may not be the case, but it’s not for us to debate.
However, Boston sports stars seem to build a special bond unlike any other.
That’s why it was so heartwarming to hear Red Sox legend David Ortiz state that he actually felt like he had won an NBA championship when the Celtics won it this season, as he was very happy for Al Horford (via Noa Dalzell).
David Ortiz says he is a massive Celtics fan, and said he was so happy that Al Horford got it done.

Ortiz is a big part of Boston sports royalty, and Horford might claim a spot there as well.
While he’s never put up Hall of Famer-kind of numbers, Horford has had an amazing career.
He won in college and in the pros, and his leadership and basketball IQ have often made him an unsung hero in the TD Garden.
It had been more than 15 years since the last Celtics’ championship, and this was just their second since the Larry Bird era.
That’s not what you’d expect from the winningest franchise and one of the most storied teams in all of sports, and it speaks volumes about how competitive the league has become.
As for the Red Sox, it might be a while before they’re back to their World Series-winning days.
