It surprised nobody when the Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft and made him and LeBron James the first father-son duo to pair up on an NBA roster.
However, the pick was heavily criticized due to Bronny James’ subpar performance during his freshman year at USC, but the Lakers are hoping they found a diamond in the rough and can develop him into a strong all-around player.
A recent viral workout video featured the 19-year-old showing off a deep bag of tricks.
He is seen working on his one-on-one game, and he showed off turnaround jumpers, fadeaways, pull-ups going in either direction, spot-up jumpers, layups in traffic, and a few post-up moves, via ClutchPoints.

Even though none of the shots were contested very well, it was nice to see the young player seemingly expanding his game and working to add to his arsenal.
Many have believed, given how new Lakers head coach JJ Redick has spoken of him, that Bronny James will be developed as more of an off-ball, 3-and-D-type of guard, but this video showed exclusively one-on-one moves that would indicate he is focusing on being a bit more than that.
Bronny James had a tough time during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, as he posted 8.8 points per game, a 2.3-1 turnover-to-assist ratio, and shot 15.8 percent from 3-point range.
It’s unlikely he’ll have much of a role as an NBA rookie, as most second-round picks are little more than fliers, but the pedigree is there if the Lakers can find a way to tap into his abilities.
