The San Francisco 49ers don’t need Brandon Aiyuk as much as Brandon Aiyuk needs them.

They have more than enough weapons to get by and still be a very good team, even if he doesn’t show up.

He, on the other hand, is looking at losing a lot of money if he doesn’t show up to play.

That’s why GM John Lynch won’t bat an eye regarding his situation and why he’s making sure to let him know about that.

Talking about his players, the Niners executive took a clear jab at the disgruntled wide receiver (via 49ers & NFL News 24/7).

He shouted out the players who were actually there, and he even named Deebo Samuel, praising them for their hard work and preparation.

#49ers GM John Lynch gives a shoutout to the players who showed up to camp and gave it their all. He called out Deebo specifically (who practiced every day except 1).

Lynch also made the rounds Wednesday for stating that, at some point, Aiyuk would have to play.

That pretty much sums it up.

The Niners cannot afford to go into the season without Trent Williams, who’s the best offensive tackle in the game and makes life easier for Brock Purdy.

They can, however, enter the season with ‘only’ Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, as they’re the two most important and dynamic skill players.

Of course, Aiyuk is an excellent wide receiver and a polished route-runner, and every team in the league — Niners included — would be lucky to have him.

Then again, it doesn’t seem like he’s tried to negotiate in good faith, and with no leverage, he might have to show up and do the job he’s been getting paid millions to do.
