Despite plenty of speculation, the Philadelphia Eagles kept James Bradberry on their 53-man roster.

That’s a decision they could be looking back on now, as the former Pro Bowl cornerback has suffered an injury.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the CB-turned-safety sustained an injury on his lower leg, and while he won’t require surgery, he will miss 6-8 weeks as he recovers.

Bradberry made the switch from cornerback to safety after a dismal season in 2023.

Although, in reality, the struggles started earlier, more specifically in the final play of the Super Bowl in 2022.

He was an All-Pro that season, but he was mostly remembered for his critical holding penalty that set up the Chiefs’ game-winning field goal.

The Eagles re-signed him to a three-year deal worth up to $38 million ahead of the 2023 season, but he eventually ceded some snaps to rookies Eli Ricks and Kelee Ringo.

Bradberry told the Eagles that he might be better off at safety, and while the Eagles agreed, they reportedly tried to move him and had several suitors for his services.

The 31-year-old will be behind starters Reed Blankenship and CJ Gardner-Johnson while he comes back, and veteran Avonte Maddox might also have a bigger role.

The Eagles also have Tristin McCollum and Sydney Brown, who’s expected to be back at some point after starting off the season on the PUP list, so Bradberry will have a tough time finding the field once he gets back from this injury, assuming the Eagles even keep him at this point.
