It’s been a long while since the Carolina Panthers were a competitive team.

They made it to the Super Bowl in 2016, and two years later, business mogul David Tepper acquired it from owner and founder Jerry Richardson.

And while a lot has transpired on and off the field ever since, it’s not much of a coincidence to see the team struggle so much since the new ownership took over.

At least, that’s how NFL agents feel.

In a survey conducted by The Athletic, agents voted the Panthers as the ‘most unstable’ franchise, blaming Tepper’s involvement and volatility for it.

Which NFL franchise is the most unstable?

Thirty-one agents weighed in, and the Panthers received the most votes.

One unnamed agent stated that organizational stability came from the owner, and the team needed more time than what Tepper is used to giving.

He adds that a strong quarterback could keep a team afloat regardless of decision-makers, but they don’t seem to have a plan right now.

Another agent stated that while most organizations are relatively competent, the Panthers are one of the few exceptions and it all has to do with Tepper’s involvement.

Tepper has become infamous for his explosive temper, demeanor, and volatility, even going at a fan in a restaurant just because he teased him about the team.

He fired Frank Reich midway through the season despite having a rookie quarterback, and Dave Canales might be in for the same fate if he doesn’t hit the ground running.

Just like the Dallas Cowboys have shown us, sometimes the owner taking a hands-on approach isn’t the best thing.
