Jayson Tatum’s time with Team USA at the recent Paris Olympics has been the topic of conversation for weeks.
It appears that everyone has given their opinion of Tatum’s Olympic performance and now he is speaking about it more.
Talking to The Athletic, per NBACentral, Tatum admitted that he didn’t “make a jump shot” during his Team USA tenure and opened up about the struggles he faced.
Tatum said:
“I know I didn’t make a jump shot when I was with Team USA. I don’t know, law of averages. It’s a weird rhythm thing being with Team USA; you never exactly know when you’re gonna get the ball. But that’s part of it. You sign up for that because I’ve done it before (at the Tokyo Games).”
Jayson Tatum says being in a “weird rhythm” played a part in him not making a jump shot during the Olympics

Tatum is right when he says players never know when they’ll get the ball when performing with Team USA.
Because there were so many superstars on the squad, head coach Steve Kerr’s rotations were always changing and people had to adjust their styles to truly help.
Tatum played more of a supporting role than he was used to.
Just months before, he was the biggest star on the most successful team in the league and was on his way to winning his first NBA championship.
But in the Olympics, Tatum was on the bench a lot and even sat out entirely for two games.
He admitted that his jump shot wasn’t part of his skill set in Paris but was his benching really necessary?
People will continue to debate that in the months ahead.
