The Cleveland Browns have almost all their pieces in place.
Their defense is lights out, and while they must be more consistent on the road, they have the personnel to be one of the most — if not the most — dominant units in the league.
The offense, however, is still a question mark because of Deshaun Watson.
That’s why GM Andrew Berry knows he needs to give his struggling quarterback as much help as possible.
Notably, the Browns restructured Watson’s contract earlier today, clearing north of $35 million in cap space (via Field Yates).
The Browns have restructured the contract of QB Deshaun Watson, converting $44.79M of his 2024 base salary into a signing bonus and creating $35.832M in cap space, per source.

Now, they have $62 million available, the most in the league.
Needless to say, it didn’t take long before the fans started speculating about this move, with most of them thinking it might put them in a prime position to trade for Brandon Aiyuk.

The Browns have been keeping tabs on Aiyuk for quite a while now, and while some reports claimed that he didn’t want to play there, his contract stalemate with the San Francisco 49ers could make him change his mind.
Cleveland desperately needs to make things work with Deshaun Watson; they gave up too much to get him and are paying him way too much money.
So, if that means doubling down on that commitment and putting him in a position to succeed by getting him even more weapons, even if they have to overpay, then that’s a move they must make.
Whether they’ll be able to pull that off or if they will make any other big move remains to be seen.
