The Philadelphia Eagles made an underrated move earlier this preseason by trading for former first-round wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

Philly sent the Washington Commanders a third-round pick and multiple seventh-round picks in exchange for the former Penn State star.

One of Dotson’s new teammates in Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Brown recently spoke in front of the Philadelphia media about his thoughts on the trade.

“That’s someone I train with in the offseason…I don’t let people train with me, honestly, and I let him train with me so that should tell you everything you need to know,” Brown said of Dotson.

And I let him train so that should tell you all you need to know.”

From a fan perspective, Eagles fans should not only be very excited about the addition but the fact that Brown and Dotson already have a great rapport.

Adding him to the wide receiver room was a very shrewd move by GM Howie Roseman.

Dotson did not put up elite numbers in Washington during his first few seasons there, but he is a quality player when given an opportunity.

He showed his potential as a rookie in 2022 when he put up 523 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, there will be less pressure on him because he will be the third wide receiver on the depth chart behind the elite duo of Brown and DeVonta Smith.

While Brown and Smith are being guarded heavily, Dotson may have the opportunity to play a key role in head coach Nick Sirianni’s offense.

Look for the former First-Team All-Big Ten receiver to make a real difference in Philadelphia this year, and it might not necessarily show up on the stat sheet.
