Mike Bibby spent some time with the Miami Heat toward the end of his career and, according to him, it was a complicated and “different” period in his career.
Speaking with the “Club 520” podcast, via Heat Diehards, Bibby opened up about his Heat experience and talked of the challenges that came with playing for such a historic franchise.
He noted that if a player didn’t pass the body fat test, they were forced to do extra cardio work and that he also had to pay to take his jersey home with him.
He admitted that playing under Pat Riley wasn’t always easy but it is a system that works well for that team.

Bibby moved to the Heat for the 2010-11 season and averaged 7.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game during that time.
This was at the tail end of his career and he only played for one season after, when he participated in just 39 games with the New York Knicks.
The Heat have a special kind of culture that they are very proud of.
They expect a lot from their players and push them very hard.
Bibby said it’s not always easy to be part of such an organization and made it clear that it wasn’t his cup of tea.
But it has obviously paid off because the team was one of the most dominant during the 2000s and 2010s.
Most reporting suggests that not much has changed within the Heat since Bibby’s time there.
The culture is still strong and they are still doing things their way, regardless of what the players think.
