The Los Angeles Chargers have officially locked up their starting kicker for the foreseeable future.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the team is signing kicker Cameron Dicker to a four-year extension worth over $22 million with $12.5 million being guaranteed.

“After being cut by the Rams as a punter in his first training camp, Dicker signed with the Eagles and then the Chargers as a kicker, and since has become one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL over his first two seasons,” Schefter recently detailed on social media.

Cameron Dicker “The Kicker” went undrafted two years ago out of Texas, and has only been active in the NFL for 1 1/2 seasons. It has truly been a grind for Dicker to get to where he is now.

However, the former undrafted rookie out of Texas is now one of the best kickers in the league.

He is 52 of 55 in his career on field goals and has never missed an extra point.

Last season, he went 31 of 33 and did not miss a single field goal attempt that was fewer than 50 yards.

In a loaded AFC this season, a lot of games are going to come down to two position players: The quarterback and the kicker.

For teams to be in serious contention, they need to be great in both areas.

With Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert locked up for the foreseeable future, along with Dicker, the Chargers are in good hands moving forward.

Of course, it will be on new head coach Jim Harbaugh to turn the team into a winner.

While the future of the 2024 Chargers remains uncertain, the future at kicker is not anymore.
