The 2023 Kansas City Chiefs were their worst version, at least when it comes to the Patrick Mahomes era.
They had their worst offense since Andy Reid and Mahomes teamed up.
They didn’t have a go-to guy besides Travis Kelce, who struggled to find his footing early in the season.
For the first time in half a decade or so, it seemed like the Chiefs were truly mortal.
None of that mattered, as they wound up taking the Vince Lombardi trophy home anyway.
Looking back, the reigning Super Bowl MVP talked about how much he knew that winning that Super Bowl would hurt their opponents.
NEWS: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes spoke about how special this year’s Super Bowl victory was
“If we win this one it’s gonna hurt those guys, man… because this isn’t the one we’re supposed to win, and we went out there & did it.”

Mahomes knew that they weren’t supposed to get it done last season.
They rallied behind their defense, with Steve Spagnuolo establishing himself as the absolute best defensive coordinator in the game.
Now, they’ve given Mahomes the weapons he so clearly needed last season.
Once again, he will be able to sling the football down the field and get back to the explosive plays that made him a walking highlight reel in the earlier stages of his career.
No one has won three consecutive Super Bowls in the modern era.
But now the Chiefs have talent at wide receiver, a Super Bowl-caliber defense, and the best offensive play-caller in the league — and arguably of all time — and the absolute best quarterback in the game to try to write their names in the history books.
