Brandon Aiyuk’s soap opera with the San Francisco 49ers has reached its finale, at last.

It turns out that the disgruntled wide receiver wound up taking the very same deal that was always on the table for him.

So, even though he skipped training camp and the preseason and tried countless antics to force his way out of the Bay area, GM John Lynch never wavered.

He never had any sort of leverage in negotiations, and he wound up taking the exact contract the Niners wanted him to take all along.

On top of being one of the highest-paid players in the league now, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the biggest win for him was to get the bulk of the $47 million fully guaranteed in the first seven months of the deal:

“I was told the major win for him was getting the $47 million in guaranteed money in the first seven-plus months of the deal,” Fowler said.

Now, the Niners will have to address more important issues, like Trent WIlliams’ contract situation.

Aiyuk is a very good player, but Williams might be their most crucial offensive player not named Brock Purdy, and they simply cannot afford not to have him out there.

Unlike Aiyuk, he does have plenty of leverage, and it shouldn’t take much longer before the team caves in and gives him what he wants.
