As things stand now, the New England Patriots could end up with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

All things considered, it seems like they should have a top-3 pick at the very least.

That’s why they will spare no effort to scout the best prospects in the college football scene.

Considering that, they had some scouts in attendance to watch Colorado’s season opener vs. North Dakota State to evaluate Travis Hunter.

According to Mike Reiss, the Patriots are already planning ahead for the future, and this speaks volumes about how thorough they will be with their evaluation of talent.

The #Patriots had scouts in attendance to watch Colorado’s Travis Hunter up close Thursday night, per @MikeReiss.

Reiss notes, “it might be a preview of how thorough the Patriots will be in their evaluation” of Hunter.

Hunter was a big sensation in the first official week of college football.

He only missed two snaps on defense and was a shutdown cornerback while also hauling in seven receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

Hunter was the best player on the field, and it wasn’t even close, and some scouts believe he’d be worthy of a first-round pick as both a defensive back and a wide receiver.

Granted, the chances of him playing on both sides of the field full-time are pretty close to zero, but perhaps he could follow in his coach’s footsteps and get some snaps on offense if he plays DB or vice versa.

As for the Patriots, they have plenty of issues to address on their less-than-impressive roster, so don’t be shocked to see plenty of their talent evaluators all over the top-ranked prospects this season.
