Long before he made it to the NBA, LeBron James was the most famous high school kid on Earth.

His high school games were being broadcast on national television, and even celebrities attended packed gyms just to watch him play.

He hadn’t played a single minute of professional basketball, and he was already being compared to Michael Jordan and being expected to be the next face of the NBA.

It all took new heights when he starred on the Sports Illustrated cover in an edition that deemed him the Chosen One.

Now, more than two decades later, that iconic jersey is going to be up for sale in an auction.

Per Rustin Dodd of The Athletic, the high school jersey will be up for sale next month at an auction event in Hong Kong, and it’s expected to fetch a massive return.

The jersey, which James wore in a game the very same night of that iconic photoshoot and for much of his junior high school season, will reportedly go for something in the range of $1 million to $2 million, which would represent a new record for a game-worn high school jersey.

No prospect has been as hyped as LeBron James, and it’s safe to say that he lived up to the expectations.

You may or may not think that he’s the greatest player of all time, and there are strong arguments to be made either way.

But the fact that he’s a legitimate candidate to even get that distinction speaks volumes about how he clearly fulfilled his destiny.
