The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk finally put an end to the drama of the offseason.
Aiyuk made life very uncomfortable on social media from the very first day after their loss in the Super Bowl, and he tried to make it seem as if he had more leverage than he actually had.
In the end, he settled on a contract with the Niners to make him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the game.
So, why did it take so long for both parties to get a deal done?
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, this all had to do with Aiyuk being willing to play for two other teams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a deal in place to get him, but the Niners weren’t fazed by the offer and never pulled the trigger.
Aiyuk also wanted to team up with former Arizona State teammate Jayden Daniels with the Washington Commanders, but the Commanders were never truly engaged in trade talks.
Per Fowler, that led to weeks of both parties just staring at each other and waiting for the other to flinch.
Aiyuk can now hang his hat on the fact that he’s going to get most of his guaranteed money upfront in the first 7+ months of the contract.
