The Cleveland Browns will be without their best offensive player for at least a month.
Nick Chubb will begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, meaning he’ll be ineligible to return for the first four games of the season.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean he’s just going to be out there by Week Five, either.
According to a report by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Chubb could be looking at a very prolonged absence.
As a matter of fact, he could be looking at half a season on the sidelines or even a little longer:
Truth be told, this isn’t exactly shocking.
This is Chubb’s second major knee injury dating back to his days in college.
Moreover, he sustained plenty of damage in pretty much the entire knee, and the Browns are doing the right thing by not rushing him back onto the field.
Chubb is strong and has recovered without any setbacks, but this was a gruesome, career-altering injury.
Also, the Browns are all set with a prime backup like Jerome Ford.
Ford might not be Nick Chubb, but he’s proven to be more than capable of handling the bulk of the workload in his absence.
On top of that, new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey might want to throw the football early and often.
There are some concerns about Deshaun Watson and his ability to get back to his usual level.
But for now at the very least, Deshaun Watson will have to hold down the fort with his passing.
