Caleb Williams hasn’t played a single snap of NFL football, but he’s going to be must-watch television from day one.
The Chicago Bears are well aware of that, and they want to make sure that their prized rookie feels welcome and comfortable there.
They also want to see him embrace a leadership role right out of the gate.
That’s why they’ve just announced he will be one of the team’s captains entering the season.

Notably, he’s not the only rookie quarterback to be given this honor in recent times, with guys like Joe Burrow, CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, and Anthony Richardson also getting that nod.
Along with the USC product, the Bears will have WR DJ Moore and TEs Marcedes Lewis and Cole Kmet as the offensive captains.
On the other side of the field, HC Matt Eberflus will give the nod to CB Jaylon Johnson, S Kevin Byard, and LBs Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards.
This is one of the most hyped-up and anticipated seasons in Chicago Bears history.
For the first time ever, they might have a true star at the quarterback position, and they’re expected to be one of the most improved teams in the league this season.
Even if that’s not the case, it’ll be interesting to witness Williams’ development, as he’s a unique talent with a generational upside.
Now, it’s up to him to prove the scouts were right to be so high on him, not only with his play on the field but also with his leadership.
